- History:
- The old Spanish Treasure Cave is tuly one of Ozark's greatest Treasures. It is believed that over 350 years ago, Spanish Conquistador Soldiers buried their treasure deep within the cavern. The treasure, in today's time, has been estimated to be worth over 40 million dollars. There has been evidence found here from the Spaniards. There have been helmets, pieces of armor, weapons,a nd a few gold coins reported being found. The cavern was sealed up until an old Spaniard from Madrid, Spain showed up here and rediscovered the cavern in 1885. He didn't stay here too long due to his health.
The man standing on the ledge in the suit, is named George Dunbar. He continued searching for the tresure until his health had given out. The Cavern was opened for tours in the mid 1930's after several other failed attempts to find this treasure in this magnificently mysterious cavern.
The Tresure Hunt still goes on today. We are finding and charting new territories that no modern man has laid eyes upon. Hopefully we will discover this treasure soon.
