- History:
- In September 2000, Glen Cove Elks Lodge 1458 asked member Marty Arominski to turn their 1890 Lodge Mansion into a charity Haunted House. With the help of his two sons, Chris and Stephen, Dan Russell, a Halloween enthusiast, and students from Glen Cove High School, the Elks Haunted House was born. The proceeds were used to finance the Elks Youth Programs.
In March 2001 Marty and Chris made their first trip to a Halloween show in Chicago, IL. At the show they met and picked the brains of the leaders of the Haunted House industry. In October 2001 with ideas and props purchased at the Halloween show, the haunted house was called Red Spring Manor. In searching for costumes in Halloween stores we noticed a company called Fun World in Carl Place. Fun World is one of the largest costume manufacturers in the world. We contacted and met with the president, Alan Geller. He asked why we wanted to do a haunted house. He started talking about a place he saw in 2000. He said they had some very creative scares. He started to tell us about some of the scares and we interrupted him to explain to him that he saw our haunted house. As a result Fun World has been our largest corporate sponsor.
In 2002 Red Spring Manor became Blood Manor with three levels and for the first time we use animatronics.
In 2003 Marty brought in two partners and made Blood Manor a commercial haunt. Marty always wanted a haunted house so scary that a person would actually have a bowel movement. On his birthday no less the staff was able to make two people shit in their pants.
In February 2004 the Elks sold their building and Blood Manor was looking for a new home. In October 2004, Marty opened The Halls of Terror at its present location. It is a 4000 square foot haunt with 10,000 square feet of props. It was so well done that one of Marty’s partners wanted to get involved with the Halls of Terror after he had previously said no to the project. Since he was a very close friend and out of work, Marty welcomed him with open arms.
In June 2005 Marty designed and re-opened Blood Manor in New York City with his two partners. Marty has been interviewed by print, TV and radio media on the local and international level on the art of the scare.
In October 2005, The Halls of Terror opened for its second year with Chris Arominski’s Exorcist Room. This room is the scariest room we have ever developed in the five years of doing haunted houses.
For 2006 Halls of Terror has been completely redesigned with many of the same props you would see at Universal Studios or Knott’s Scary Farm. In addition tickets may be purchased on line.
In the last four years, Marty has traveled across the United States and has seen some of the most famous haunted attractions, like Netherworld in Atlanta, GA, Rocky Point Horror in Salt Lake City, Verdun Manor in Dallas, TX and Dreamreapers in Chicago, IL.
See what his and Chris’ devious minds have in store for you in 2006 if you dare.
