- History:
- The Watson's settled on this farm in the early 1800's. They were well known in these parts. But the depresssion came and their crops began to fail, animals began to die and the apple trees seemed to moan inthe night wind. The family fell on hard times. They could not grow a thing. they didn't have the gift. They turned hard and mean, they stopped oing to church and going into town.
At the beginning of the next season the animals had begun to flourish ad the fields began growing record crops, no matter how bad the weather, insects or conditions, when no one else could grow a thing. They always had their livestock and a big crop. No one knew what to make of it, but there was some talk.
In those days, there were drifters, young men and women looking for work, odd jobs and such. The dirfters were lured ot the farm with the promise of work and it was there they were laid to rest. Strange noises were heard from the back barn located on the property, were lights glowed until all hours of the night. It was there they were hung up on crosses as scarecrows, their blood dripped down intot he fields, others were slaughtered and fed to th elivestock which ensure their growth.
When the work became more plentiful the dirfters diminished and children from the nearby town began disappearing. It was then that the authorities discovered human remains on the crosses, around the pig pens and chicken coops. However, the Watson family was never found.
