- About:
- So...you think your're brave enough to experience Halloween on the Farm at night? The small town of Thorsby, Alabama may appear to be quiet and dull, but when the sun goes down, a metmorphosis occurs...a dark secret emerges...the Burnette's farm turns into fear personified. Experience hallways, gruesome scenery, and encounters with both the living and the dead inside the haunted house which was voted as one of the top halloween attractions in Alabama (Along with Sloss Furnace and Atrox Factory) by a Birmingham-area radio station in our first year of existence. Enjoy concessions underneath our covered waiting area before your face to face encounter with fear itself. For the haunting season of 2007, we will have the return of the haunted hayride to give you a double shot of fear... If you don't possess the guts to experience the haunted house or haunted hayride, then there is also a corn maze for you to explore...or...you can choose the safety of the children's activities during the daytime. However, if you feel brave...the writing's on the wall...and its written in your own blood!!!
- History:
- Halloween on the Farm has fun for people of all ages. We have a Pumpkin Patch and a Corn Maze for younger children and families. For those who do not scare easily, our main attraction is a new haunted house with an indoor waiting area. We also have a Hayride for people who want something more than a corn maze, but do not wish to enter the haunted house. Concessions are also available.
Burnette Farms is a fourth generation farm. Mike Burnette is farming 12 months out of each year. Summer crops are plentiful with Mike's peach and plum orchards. Also, under skillful planning, he has multiple vegetables including tomatoes, squash, peppers, eggplant, and cucumbers.
Fall brings more tomatoes, collards, turnips, and mustard. Tomatoes have become a year-round crop due to Mike's new greenhouse operation. Due to climate controlled conditions, Mike can offer greenhouse tomatoes with fresh garden texture and flavor!
You can find the Burnette family at various markets such as the well known "Pepper Place Saturday Morning Market" in the Lakeview district of Birmingham.
In addition to fruits and vegetables, Mike is in his 2nd year of raising registered boer goats. Some of these are actually for "show" goats. Mike's 15 year old son, Jared, is in his 3rd year of raising registered black angus cattle. There is never a dull moment on the farm!
