Carrot "Bombs" Scare Sweden
submitted: Jun 17, 2009 at 12:45 PM by Marissa C.An art exhibit featuring fake “bombs” made out of 15 bunches of carrots in black tape with blue and red wires and a ticking clock fooled residence into thinking that the town was under siege by terrorists.

But in reality, the “bombs,” which were placed in various locations around the city, were harmless: they were made of edible veggies. Conny Blom’s exhibit, “The Bunny Project – Bombs,” done at the request of the local Orebro Art Gallery, aimed to create an illusion of danger from organic material.
Police officers, called to the local library by a terrified resident, seized the the “bombs,” only to find out (on further investigation) that they could in fact eat them.
According to local police, “It was hard to tell if they were real or not. We find this inappropriate.” Police plan to file criminal charges against Blom and the local gallery.
Police are required to follow every precaution, so their reaction to the “bombs” is understandable. But in the picture above, the “bombs” do in fact look to be just carrots; it is hard to see how they can be mistaken for dynamite. “After all, it is just carrots with an alarm clock and nothing else…” Blom told The Local.
